Caleb Hoover might not call himself an "avid outdoorsman," but his stories tell a different tale. Between shooting videos in Tokyo and tackling rope courses in Madrid, he's found that some of the best moments in life happen outside, surrounded by good people and wide-open spaces.

Q&A with Caleb

What draws you to the outdoors?
I spend a ton of time behind a computer or camera for my job, so the outdoors feels like an escape. Places like the Black Hills or my family’s cottage in Pennsylvania give me space to just breathe. Being out in nature with the people closest to me—whether it’s on a hiking trail or sipping coffee by the campfire—brings a kind of peace you don’t get anywhere else.

Most memorable adventure moment?
Open sky camping in Wadi Rum, Jordan. There was zero light pollution, and the stars were so bright it was almost hard to sleep. It was like staring into the depths of space with nothing but my own eyes. That’s a moment I’ll never forget.

What does comradery in adventure mean to you?
It’s about building community—whether that’s camping with family, hitting the trail with friends, or exploring a city with my camera crew. You grow closer by sharing experiences, overcoming obstacles together, and stepping away from the endless scroll of daily life.

How did you discover Dakota Adventure Supply?
I met one of the co-founders, through networking events. What stuck with me was the level of detail in their products—from the materials they use to where they’re made. There’s something real about the brand’s connection to the outdoors and the community forming around it.

What do you love most about adventure?
That it doesn’t have to be some grand, epic trip. Sure, it can be zip-lining over Niagara Falls or making videos in Tokyo, but adventure is just as much the small, quiet moments—sitting on a porch swing in the morning sun, gathering around a fire, or taking a simple walk with a loved one. Right now, anything that gets us away from our devices and back into real life feels like an adventure.

Caleb gets it—adventure isn’t just about where you go, but who you go with.
